Celestron’s CPC Deluxe HD telescope series of telescopes combines Celestron’s redesigned CPC computerised alt-az fork mount with its innovative EdgeHD optics to provide top-of-the-line performance with unlimited versatility. Whether you are a beginner, a casual observer or are an astroimager, the CPC Deluxe HD is perfect for any application. The CPC/CPC Deluxe range is so popular it is also the telescope of choice for NASA! This telescope is the largest aperture of the CPC Deluxe HD series and has a light-gathering power of almost 90% more than the 8″ model and over 40% more than the 9.25″.

Celestron’s proprietary unique EdgeHD optical design corrects for both coma and field curvature, providing aberration-free images and pinpoint stars across the largest imaging sensors and all the way to the edge of even the widest eyepieces. All EdgeHD systems include Celestron’s StarBright XLT coatings on all optical surfaces for brighter images and increased light transmission. Furthermore, every EdgeHD optical tube is Fastar compatible – you simply remove the secondary mirror and attach a third party lens assembly and you’re ready to image the night sky at an ultra-fast speed of f/2. You can read more about how EdgeHD outperforms competing optical systems by downloading the EdgeHD whitepaper here.

The beefy dual arm fork mount is a rigid and stable platform and firmly anchors the telescope for ultra-precise tracking. However it only weighs 32kg (~70 lbs) and includes ergonomically positioned rugged carrying handles for easy carrying and to make setup quick and easy. Each CPC Deluxe telescope also comes with a sturdy adjustable height tripod with a useful accessory tray.

The CPC HD series uses GPS (Global Positioning System) technology to automatically pinpoint your exact coordinates – no need to enter the date, time, longitude and latitude or even know the name of a single star in the sky. Simple and easy to use, the CPC with its SkyAlign sky modelling system, is up and running after locating just three celestial objects. If you are new to astronomy, you may wish to start off by using the CPC’s built-in Sky Tour feature, which commands the CPC to find the most interesting objects in the sky and automatically slews to each one. Or if you are more experienced, you will appreciate the comprehensive database of over 40,000 objects, including customised lists of all the best deep-sky objects, planets and bright double stars. No matter at what level you are starting out, the CPC will unfold for you and your friends all the wonders of the Universe.

Although most altazimuth telescopes are designed primarily for visual use, the CPC Deluxe HD is for astrophotographers too! It offers all the same high-end features you’ll find on Celestron’s German equatorial mounts. Out of the box, your CPC Deluxe can track accurately for up to 30 seconds without adding a wedge, thanks to a re-engineered drive train with a 6-inch brass gear, stainless steel worm gear, and both steel and nylon ball bearings. For longer exposure astrophotography, then the Celestron HD Pro Wedge is needed which turns this CPC Deluxe HD telescope into an astroimager’s dream setup. With the wedge, you can take advantage of the All Star Polar Alignment procedure, which has you polar aligned in just minutes. You can also train your mount to be even more accurate with Permanently Programmable Periodic Error Correction. Finally, your CPC tracks smoothly through the meridian without doing a meridian flip, enabling you to capture objects in the best part of the night sky.

To customise your experience under the stars, CPC Deluxe HD is compatible with all of Celestron’s latest accessories. Add StarSense AutoAlign and your CPC will align itself in under 3 minutes. Or add the SkyPortal WiFi Module and control your telescope using a smartphone or tablet. You can also control the telescope using Celestron’s CPWI software too.

With this much versatility, the CPC Deluxe HD is a telescope that will serve you well for years to come, no matter what you choose to do with the hobby—including astroimaging.
