The Celestron C14 SCT optical tube assembly (OTA) is their largest aperture telescope and offers great light gathering power (1593x that of the human eye). The telescope, due to its size and weight (21kg) is only available with the sturdy wide 3″ CGE/Losmandy bar for mounting on a suitable mount, with Celestron’s CGX or CGX-L (for astroimaging) being well suited.
The C14 features Celestron’s StarBright XLT coatings on the corrector plate for maximum light transmission. The telescope has a 3910mm focal length (f/11) making it a good overall performer on a range of celestial objects.
The telescope comes with a star diagonal for more comfortable viewing of high altitude objects and a 40mm Plossl eyepiece which gives 70x magnification. A 9×50 finderscope to help locate objects completes the package.
